Else Mitchell Park Bushcare Group

Else Mitchell Park Bushcare Group, assisted by Blue Mountains City Council, has undergone a 10-year rehabilitation of Else Mitchell Park in Springwood.
This has involved developing a system to control the impacts of stormwater, re-planting of creek species and bush regeneration. Whilst numerous authorities and resources have been used in the project, it has been the community group that has galvinised the cooperation between each agency.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- Reduce the impacts of stormwater on the creekline
- Revegetate the creekline community
- Allow ecosystem resilience to dictate the rate and direction of bush regeneration throughout the reserve
The project has been based in the community. It has put in over 1,500 hours of volunteer labour! The group has been able to back up every dollar invested in the site with this contribution. The group has also been able to maintain the site through "low" funding periods. This has made the project sustainable over the long-term.
