Mammals Talk a Success

Blue Mountains City Council Environmental Scientist, Les Moore gave an excellent presentation to the Bushcare Network on Thursday, December 5. The topic "Mammals of the Blue Mountains" was warmly received by about 30 people.

Les, who had to drive from Blackheath to Lawson via the Bells Line of Road due to the fires, delivered a 45 minute presentation and answered many questions.

His presentation displayed the diversity and beauty of the furry creatures of the mountains. He talked about their habitat, life cycles and food requirements. His numerous slides of the animals were of a very high quality.

It was clear that conserving their habitat, and controlling their predators was the key to their survival.

He also demonstrated to us that there was still so much more to learn about these often mysterious, and sometimes even unknown animals.

Blue Mountains WIRES also provided a display which showed various aspects of their work in caring for injured native wildlife.

There will more Bushcare Network Special Events like this in the future. Dates, topics and venue will be posted here, and also sent out to all Bushcare volunteers.
